Solid Oil Bearings

Need a bearing that never needs grease? Our sister store, Solid Oil Bearings, fills standard deep groove ball bearings with solid oil to order in Glendale, California. No regreasing, no purge, nothing for washdown to flush out.

What a solid oil bearing is

A solid oil bearing is a standard deep groove ball bearing whose internal space is filled with a solid lubricant and cured in a convection oven. The lubricant sets into a solid polymer matrix that holds the oil in place and seals the bearing. As the bearing turns, the matrix releases a thin film of oil onto the balls and raceways. The bearing needs no relubrication for its service life, and the fill cannot purge, drip or wash out.

Two grades, 204 sizes

Standard bearings use chrome steel rings and balls. Food Grade bearings use stainless steel rings and balls with an NSF H1 registered solid lubricant, for food, beverage and washdown equipment where incidental food contact is possible. Both grades come in all 204 sizes: metric 6000, 6200, 6300, 6700, 6800 and 6900 series, inch R and 1600 series, and miniature sizes down to 1 mm bore. Each size has the same dimensions as the sealed or shielded bearing it replaces.

Where they are used

Food and beverage lines, washdown equipment, conveyors, packaging machinery, marine equipment, and hard-to-reach motors, fans and pumps: anywhere a relubrication round is costly or purged grease is a contamination problem. Solid oil bearings run at lower maximum speeds than greased bearings, so for a high speed application, email Solid Oil Bearings first and they will tell you whether it suits the job.
